Comparison of water filtration systems
We say that Berkey® water filters are more efficient than most other water filters on the market. Of course, you don't have to take our word for it! Or at least not without evidence and a factual and accurate analysis. That is why we have decided to make comparisons between our purification system and other water filters on the market. These comparisons are based on various important criteria such as cost per litre filtered or filtration capacity, so that you can compare transparently before making your choice.
We emphasise the cost per litre filtered, because the purchase price of a system should not overshadow the cost of replacing the filters and their life span. A system that is cheap to buy can be very expensive if you have to replace your filters every month... It is important to calculate the cost of filtration taking these criteria into account before making a purchase. Also check that the system you are considering has the filtration performance required for the use you want to make of it: filtration of tap water only, rainwater, river water, water from any source in case of an emergency.
All Berkey® systems are supplied with a pair of Black Berkey® filters, which have been tested for use up to 22,700 litres. These filter systems, equipped with these filters, fall into the category of water purifiers, capable, among other things, of filtering viruses.
Berkey® and its competitors
Here you will find links to the various comparisons made with the water filtration systems of our competitors. This will show you that the Berkey® system is the most efficient water purification system on the market, and the cheapest per litre filtered. This list will be expanded over time. Below is a summary table comparing water filtration systems in order to compare the Berkey® purifier to its competitors.
